Megan Summer Scarf

Requirements
200 grams (400m) Cotton Dk yarn
4mm needles
2 buttons
If you wish to do this pattern in other weights of yarn remember to use the needle size stated on the ball band.
Abbreviations
ssk – slip two stitches on to the right needle without knitting and then knit into the front of them with the left needle.
m1 – make one stitch, by picking up the horizontal loop before next stitch and knitting into back of it
yo - place yarn to the front of your work then over the needle to knit the next stitch
K2tog – knit the next two stitches together to make one stitch
Pattern
Cast on 31 stitches
Row 1 – 4 knit all stitches (garter stitch)
Row 5, 7, 9, 11 – K4 * (k2tog) twice, (yo, k1) 3 times, yo, (ssk) twice, k1* repeat once more then k3
Rows 6, 8, 10, and 12 – K3 purl to last 3 stitches k3

Repeat rows 1 – 12   five more times (6 patterns in total)
Garter stitch 200 rows or until work measures 39” (99cm)
Repeat rows 1 – 12 six times
Then rows 1 – 4 once
For all lace scarf knit rows 1 – 12 until require length. K4 rows garter stitch at the end of the last pattern.

Fastening band
Cast on 10 sts and knit (garter stitch) 34 rows
Button hole row
K3, yo, K2tog, k1, yo, k2tog, k2
Knit 2 rows
Cast off
 Sew the cast on edge of the band to the left side of the scarf 10 rows above the end of pattern six. With right side facing sew buttons on to the band 8 rows in from where you have joined the work to the main scarf.
Flower
Cast on 10 stitches and knit 1 row
Row 1 – knit into the front and the back of every stitch (20 st)
Row 2 – knit
Row 3 – knit into the front and back of every stitch (40st)
Row 4 – knit
Row 5 – knit into the front and back of every stitch (80 st)
Row 6 – knit
Cast off
Sew flower 8 rows in from button holes on the right side of the work.

Cast on 3 stitches
Knit one row
Row 1 - k1,m1,k1,m1,k1 
Row 2 - knit
Row 3 – k2,m1,k1,m1,k2
Row 4 - k3,p1,k3
Row 5 - k3,m1,k1,m1,k3
Row 6 -  k4,p1,k4
Row 7 - k4,m1,k1,m1,k4
Row 8 - k5,p1,k5
Row 9 - k1,k2tog,k5,k2tog,k1
Row 10 - k4,p1,k4
Row 11 - k1,k2tog,k3,k2tog,k1
 Row 12 - k3,p1,k3
Row 13 - k1,k2tog,k1,k2tog,k1
Row 14 - k2tog,p1, k2tog
Row 15 - k3tog – fasten off and sew in place.
